What is
Cataract Surgery?
A cataract is the clouding of our natural lens inside the eye over time. They most often become visually significant later in our sixth, seventh, and eighth decade of life. Cataracts can significantly impair vision making it difficult to gauge depth, see while driving at night and read small print among several others. Surgery is the only way to eliminate cataracts and improve vision. Our surgeons will remove the cataract and replace it with an artificial lens.

Visiting Mile High Eye Institute for regular eye exams can help the team identify the early warning signs of cataracts before they progress.
What Can I Expect From Cataract Surgery?
The procedure time of cataract surgery is 15 minutes per eye. If you have cataracts in each eye, a separate procedure will be performed for each eye and 2 different surgery dates will be given.
Our procedures are performed in an ambulatory surgery center. Our staff will administer dilation drops and medication to keep you comfortable during surgery. During the procedure, a small incision on the front of the eye is made and the cataract is then removed and replaced with the artificial lens Your ophthalmologist helped you select during your evaluation. Our professional team will work hard to make sure your surgery is a positive experience with minimal stress and discomfort.
You will have a post-operative appointment one day and 1 month after surgery for each eye. For these visits our office may partner with your local optometrist or you are welcome to see the Mile High Eye Institute optometric team. Our scheduling team will set you up with these visits at the time you schedule surgery.
